Aleem Dar is known for his quick thinking and ability to handle crunch situations. Before getting into full-time umpiring, Dar played domestic cricket for Allied Bank, Gujranwala Cricket Association, Lahore, and Railways (Pakistan) between 1986 and 1998. He was a right-handed batsmen and legbreak bowler. He steaped into umpiring in early 2000. He stood in his first Test during England`s tour of Bangladesh in 2003. By 2005, he was regarded as one of the best umpires of the game, second only to fellow umpire Simon Taufel.
