Ahmedabad: Statistical highlights on the fifth and final day of the first cricket Test between India and Sri Lanka here on Friday.
In the course of his 43rd hundred, Sachin Tendulkar has become the first player to complete 30,000 runs in international cricket.
Tendulkar is the first one to make 1500 (1512) runs against Sri Lanka at an average of 58.15 in 20 Tests.
For the second time, India have posted 400 in each innings of a Test match. In the 2004-05 Kolkata Test against Pakistan, India had made 407 and 407 for 9 wickets declared.
Not capturing a single wicket, conceding 100 runs or more - a dubious distinction, recorded by Muttiah Muralitharan for the third time in Tests.
Seven hundreds - 4 by India and 3 by Sri Lanka is a record tally in India or for that matter, in any Test, involving India.
Gautam Gambhir’s seventh Test century is his first against Sri Lanka - his fourth in India.
Gambhir has achieved a unique feat - three hundreds in successive Tests. He became the sixth batsman to register three centuries or more in consecutive Tests.
Sunil Gavaskar (4 between 1976-77 and 1977-78 & 3 during 1970-71) and Rahul Dravid (4 between 2002 and 2002-03) are the only ones to make four centuries in successive Tests.
Gambhir’s previous best vs.Sri Lanka was 74 at Galle last year.
In his last eight Tests, Gambhir has made six centuries.
With a hundred against Sri Lanka, Sachin Tendulkar has taken his tally to 43, the most by any batsman.
In drawn Tests, Sachin is averaging 65.36 - 5360 in 95 innings, including 18 hundreds and 25 fifties.
In four Tests this year, Sachin has made two hundreds and two fifties in seven innings - 448 at an average of 74.66.
Sachin is the first batsman to register three centuries at Motera.
Under Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s captaincy, Sachin has made 710 (ave.71.00) in 7 Tests (13 innings), including four hundreds and two fifties.
VVS Laxman has registered four innings of 50-plus in his last six innings - 76 & 124 not out against New Zealand at Napier; 4 and 61 at Wellington and 0 and 51 not out against Sri Lanka at Ahmedabad.
Laxman’s fourth fifty against Sri Lanka is his 40th overall.
Laxman is averaging 69.20 in 2009 - 346 in seven innings, twice not out, including one hundred and three fifties, in four Tests.
In drawn Tests, Laxman is averaging 63.75 in 60 innings (39 Tests) - 2805 runs, including eight hundreds and 17 fifties.
Amit Mishra’s 24 off 51 balls is his career-best innings, surpassing the 23 off 31 balls against England at Mohali in 2008-09.
