Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh police on Friday said they have made elaborate security arrangements for the second cricket Test between India and Sri Lanka at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur starting from November 24.
ADG Law and Order, Brij Lal told reporters here that besides the local police, the DGP office has provided nine companies of the PAC, five teams of the quick reaction teams and anti-mines and anti-sabotage squads to provide foolproof security both at the stadium and the hotel where the teams would be staying.
“Three superintendents of police, four ASP, 10 Dy SPs would be deployed along with other police personnel,” the ADG said, adding that 12 CCTVs with recorders, four fire tenders, sniffer dogs, bag scanners and bomb baskets would also be put into service.
The ADG, who himself had inspected the stadium and its security preparedness earlier, said specific orders have been issued to ensure security to the teams not just at the stadium or hotel but also on the route which they would be taking.
“The principal secretary (home) and DGP also inspected the stadium today,” the ADG said, adding that the security checks at the roof tops of high rise buildings, anti-sabotage checking and armed patrolling of building clusters were also done.
The security arrangements at the stadium this time would be more than the one provided last year, the ADG said.
