Indore: A brilliant unbeaten 146 by skipper Sunny Singh and a cautious 71 by Rahul Diwan helped Haryana score 308 for 5 against Madhya Pradesh at the end of day one in their Ranji Trophy Plate Group B match here on Tuesday.
Madhya Pradesh skipper Hrishikesh Kanitkar won the toss and put Haryana to bat at Emerald Heights International School grounds.
Rahul Divan and Ankit Rawat added 70 runs for the first wicket. Anand Rajan gave the first break to the hosts packing off Rawat at his individual score of 28.
Diwan and Singh batted brilliantly afterwards and gave strength to the visiting team.
Both the batsmen took the score to 143, when T Sudhindra cleanbowled Diwan for a well made 71. At the other end, however, the skipper was going strong.
At 152, Rajan sent Nitin Saini back to pavilion before he could open his account. He then bowled a beauty to trap Sachin Rana (1) in front of the wicket.
Sumit Sharma gave good support to his skipper and made 45 before being caught and bowled by debutant Shridhar Iyer to give him his first Ranji wicket.
The Haryana skipper was going strong at his individual score 146 with 24 hits to the fence.
For Madhya Pradesh, Rajan scalped three wickets for 55 in 17 overs.
