Vadodara: Lack of proper facilities at international cricket venues in India has been a major concern over the years, but if there was hope on that count post-IPL it was dashed to the ground at the Reliance Stadium here on Sunday.
The crowd, in excess of 20,000 with many standing and watching the game from the makeshift stands, should have enthused the authorities over the future of the 50-over game at least in this country.
But whether the spectators had a comfortable time in hot and humid conditions, made worse as the stands were chock-a-block, after paying for tickets costing between Rs 250 and Rs 2,500 for the match, was questionable.
There was no water in the bathrooms for the spectators in the building block right opposite to the players’ pavilion that also housed the media box.
