The Super 8 encounter of the two of the most talented sides in the T20 World Cup 2009, England and South Africa, brings out two sides, bent on proving their might or being tagged as chokers. In my opinion, South Africa are the favourites as they have a very sound overall balanced side, just like India.
This coupled with the fact that the Proteas’ batsmen have hit a purple patch make them a formidable camp. The only worry though still remains in the form of Herchelle Gibbs as he has yet not clicked and is one of those who can change the course of the game very soon.
Jaques Kallis is in one of his own element in such conditions and AB de Villiers is in one of the best phases of his career. These two are on the top-list of the current crop of cricketers by playing simple yet effective game.
England, on the other hand have the potential to give South Africa a run for their money and would have definitely fancied their chances after they won the toss. It gave them the opportunity to put in runs on the board and then stick to their solid defence of bowlers to cement their position.
